Magickal Record Keeping – Your B.O.S. and Personal Journal

One of the key ingredients for any witch is introspection. The ability to see where we are, where we’ve been, and where we hope to be.

If you are not doing so yet, start keeping a personal journal. In this journal write about your day and how you think and feel. This journal is not for anybody else to read just you. When you look back through the pages of your journal from time to time you may surprise yourself. You will see how you have grown personally and magickally. You have to make a commitment to yourself to write in this journal everyday. Even on those days that you really do not know what to write. When those types of days come up, and they will, simply write something like “I don’t know what to write” until you fill up a page. Trust me this works.

Another type of record keeping book you will need to start is your own Book Of Shadows. In this journal you will put all the spells you have done along with other things geared to your spiritual life. Over the years you will accumulate much information on herbs annd oils that have properties that work for your distinctive spell workings or meditations. You will write out ingredients for potions and mixes that you have prepared. This B.O.S. will also contain your personal magickal symbols and information on your personal dieties.

If you have not started keeping these types of personal journals start this week. They do not need to be elaborate books or expensive blank journals that you can purchase from the book store. A simple spiral notebook will serve you well for this purpose. Start your magickal record keeping and see the growth you make everyday.

Magic Money Spell

Seems like in these economic times, a magic money spell is in order. As with all magic remember that there will be work for you to do on this side to see things to fruition. This magic money spell has been used effectively by me and others for keeping finances coming in as well as creating revenue from different sources.

You will need:

Pot (one you will never cook in)

1 small jar

Mint teabag

Pinch of vervain

3 drops dragons blood oil

Pinch of cinquefoil

Bring a cup of water to boil in your special brew pot. Add the mint tea. Meanwhile while the tea is steeping, add the rest of you ingredients. When tea has steeped for about three minutes, remove teabag. Add ice to water and stir until it cools. (Be concentrating on your finances while doing this)

THE MAGIC MONEY SPELL

Write on a piece of paper, your need. BE SPECIFIC.

Place the paper in the jar.

Call on the Fates, all three of them individually to aid in your magic

Ask them for prosperity, adding this chant:

Three great ladies crossed the land
Each held prosperity in their hand
The first said, “She needs some.”
The second said, “She has some.”
The third said, “There is more to come.”
“We turn three times, the way of the Sun.”

Raise your energy and clap three times

Now seal your tea brew with a magical sign.

Pour the cooled down brew into the jar and put lid on. Seal it with a magical star.

When your money comes in, thank the Fates and the Lady and Lord.

Pour out the brew onto the ground and discard the paper.

I hope this magic money spell works for you as well as it has for us.

I Made It Back!

(…tap, tap…is this thing on?) After a long hiatus I am back online and working on Brigids Cauldron again. A lot has changed since the last time, (how many months ago?) I talked with you. The store has closed down, we moved back to the city, and I was out of touch with the Internet for a brief time. But the Lady and Lord have blessed my wife and I and we are back.

So much to share and yet it seems like I must start all over. I am not sure really what direction this blog will take from here, but it will continue. I know that before we were gearing towards those that were just finding thier path and I want that to continue. Each of us individually must find our own path and yet know that we are not alone on our travels.

Hopefully my writing will be better and more informative. I also hope to recieve more feedback from our readers. Though I may have plenty to share, I know that I do not have all the answers.

So, today I say to you hello again. May we learn from each other and build strong relationships. I have missed this blog very much and I have missed you. It’s good to be home.

Using Feng Shui to Attract Wealth and Prosperity – Part 1

The Chinese has been using feng shui to attract good luck and good fortune for the thousands of years. In the Orient, no businessmen would start a business without first consulting a feng shui expert. Feng shui can help you maximize your chances of success in your career or in the business that you are running. One of the easiest feng shui techniques that you can use to activate your wealth luck is through they use of symbols. Ancient Chinese coins have always been regarded as a symbol of wealth and prosperity. Ancient Chinese coins are round with a square hole in the middle. Tie three of these coins together with some red string and tie them to your invoice, order books, or any important financial documents such as your bankbook, to attract wealth luck.

If you have any difficulties finding ancient Chinese coins, the use of modern equivalents will work as well. Some even go as far as tying together eight Chinese coins to make a powerful wealth pendant to attract good fortune and prosperity.

Another way of attracting wealth luck is by using the flow of water around your home and your office. Take note of rivers, lakes, seas, drains, and streams around your home or office. As much as possible, such water features should be in front of the premises. Rivers and lakes behind the premises represent missed opportunities.

If you home or office is facing southeast, southwest, northeast, or northwest, looking out from the front of the main entrance, the flow of water should be from right to left. If your premises face north, south, east, or west, the flow of water should be from left to right.

Faith And Life

Lately I have had to evaluate and rediscover not only myself but my faith. Both my faith and hope have been tested extensively over the last two months. I have been extremely happy and sitting on the borders of deep depression. I hope that what follows here will not only give better insight to who I am, but also help to give better insights into who you are.

As many of you know, we had a web store that sold metaphysical and new age supplies. In July of this year, I quit my regular daily job for many reasons and started to work our store full-time. We offered all of our items at below everybody else on the web. Our advertising was good and our service was impeccable. Yet in late August we shut down the website because of no sales.

I remind you that I left my regular job to pursue building our store. During this time we have had to live off of my wife’s salary. In the beginning that was fine as we had cushion here and there. Now we literally live hand to mouth. I have started writing articles and hoping to land some paying jobs, but they have been sparse. I still leave the affiliate sites up on this blog, because they are good quality products and hopefully someone at sometime will invest a little.

My testing started early on in July after two weeks of no sales. Why? Was I doing something wrong? My questions always came from the standpoint of what I was doing or not doing. The frustration mounted when the financial situation grew worse. Here I am a man not being able to provide for his family. My questions mounted as did the weight of the situation.

I cried out to the gods and goddesses for an answer that did not come. Why was I not being successful? I started to ask myself another question…why was I crying out to these gods and goddesses? Did they even hear me? Were they real? So I reverted back to praying to the god of my youth. I found myself asking the same questions of him. In this process my day to day magic and practice dwindled down to burning a candle every couple of days. My meditations have been weak and unfruitful. And I questioned why I believed what I do and is it all worth it.

My wife had noticed these changes in me as well. She kept encouraging me that it is not necessarily what I am doing or not doing but rather what I was doing spiritually. You see, we feed spiritually off of each other and I was not practicing anything because I was questioning everything about my faith. This has been ongoing for the last three weeks and really came to a head last night.

I had been banging my head again yesterday asking why I couldn’t make anything happen financially. Stressing myself out so much that I scared our dog and have given myself at least three mini heart attacks. My beautiful wife put it in to perspective for me, I wasn’t doing what I know to do. Practicing my faith was all I have left.

So, here I am with my face in the dirt not knowing how in the world we will have dinner tomorrow night. I cannot do anything on my own. I cannot turn my back and take control of a situation that is not mine to take control of. I must get back my faith and practice what I know to be true. I know that I am the earth and the earth is in me. I know that money is not what sustains but rather the resources provided to us by nature. How many plants and animals do you see scurrying around for the almighty dollar? I know that we as a species put a value on rectangular pieces of paper that empowers what we can and cannot have. I also know that the deities, whoever you worship and recognize, do not wish us harm within our own society. So those rectangular pieces of paper will be provided as we need it.

My faith is that of a humble steward of this planet. The deities will provide for us the money necessary to live but I need to keep perspective on the fact that life is more than paying the bills. Life is enjoying all that is around us and knowing when to rely solely on Those greater than us. Life is love, and enjoying the warmth and kindness of that one person that is your soul mate. Life is life and it should be lived and not spent worrying about the next day.

Tarot Cards

Intuition and psychic ability cannot be taught but they are crucial parts of giving and receiving tarot readings. It is possible to read tarot cards without intuitive insights, because the symbols on the cards are designed to provide insights and understanding on their own. But you will find that your tarot readings become much deeper and meaningful if you strengthen your intuition and increase your psychic abilities and learn to utilize them during tarot readings.

Meditation is the very best way to strengthen your intuition and increase your psychic abilities. The conscious mind often holds on to a range of pre-conceived ideas and conditioning that we have received throughout our lives. With all the pressures of day-to-day life we find it difficult to focus on anything else but our immediate problems and needs, and our minds are full of thoughts.

Simply set aside 10 to 20 minutes a day to sit quietly and empty your mind. This can seem a difficult task at first because you may have a lot of on your mind to distract you. Over time, you will begin to feel more in tune with your inner self, which is where your intuitive insights come from.

Meditating for a few minutes before you perform Tarot Readings can also clear away distractions and put you in a relaxed state of mind, which will automatically heighten your sensitivity.

While performing your tarot readings, pay attention to any hunches or feelings you get from both the Querent (person receiving the tarot reading) and from the tarot cards, and just simply trust them. Trusting in yourself can take time, but the more you work with your intuitive abilities, the stronger they’ll get. If you feel that a tarot card means something other than the general meaning, go with that feeling. More often than not you’ll discover that your hunch is correct.

Yet another way your intuition can lead you in tarot readings is by revealing connections between the cards. For example, you might be focusing the tarot reading about the Querent’s career path and a card will come up that seems to point to emotional issues. You might think the card is out of place, but your intuition can alert you to the fact that they may have inner emotional blockages that are stopping them from following a more emotional fulfilling career.

As you become more proficient as a tarot reader you will automatically use your psychic ability to tap into the sub-conscious and connect with the Universe to sense, see and hear messages from Spirit through the medium of the tarot cards. You will be able to divert your conscious mind and contact the subconscious mind, which allows you to concentrate on the Universal consciousness. Within this cosmic force much of the information from past, present and future is available for you to access.

If your intentions are good and full of love and light you will be able to use your psychic abilities wisely. You have the potential to develop your psychic ability by using tarot cards and to use them to enhance your professional, personal and spiritual life.

There are plenty of tarot cards on the market. Some of the ones we recommend are:

The Giant Rider-Waite Tarot - The worlds most popular tarot deck! This classic deck has long been a favorite of beginners as well as tarot enthusiasts

The Large Thoth Deck - By Aleister Crowley and Lady Frieda Harris. The magnificent Crowley Thoth Tarot deck contains kabbalistic and astrological attributions described in Aleister Crowley`s The Book of Thoth.

Lesson 2 – Magick

I put magick as our second lesson for a reason. Most people looking into the Craft as a religion or way of life immediatly start looking to do magick and spells, even before understanding all that goes into it. For this reason, I want to touch briefly on the general mechanics of magick and spells. We will be doing a more extinsive study however if you are eager, like most folks are, you need to have a general idea of what you are doing.

There are people out there that seem to have this natural psychic power (for lack of better words). Some have visions while others seem to make things happen. You yourself may not be like this. Yet you shouldn’t feel envious of these people because that same power is within all of us. The aura, ( which we will cover later), is a visible manifestation of this power. Those able to see the aura – and you WILL become one of these- can see it around everyone demonstrating that indeed it is in all of us. There is energy within us and energy working through us always. Witches have always believed in this energy and have developed ways to harness it, increase it, and use it. Try this simple experiment with a friend. Have your friend take thier shirt off and sit in front of you with thier back to you. Now extend your hand palm down and fingers together straight out to point to his/her back. Keep the fingers an inch or so away from the surface of the skin. Now slowly move your hand up and down along the line of thier spine. try to keep your arm straight and concentrate your thoughts on sending all your energies out along your arm and into your hands and fingers. You are going to get a reaction from your friend. They will “feel” something. Maybe a tingling, heat sensation, but something. Try moving your hand in different directions and notice how they will be able to tell you where in close proximity your hand is. That IS the power within you and all of us.

Spells are most commonly used by solitary practitioners. The most important ingredient in any spell is your emotion. You MUST want something to happen. You must want it with all of your being and through that desire you will drive all of your power into that magick. This is why it is far better to do spells for yourself than anybody else. Thing to remember is karma. What you put out…will come back..good or bad. Be careful. Know the consequences behind your actions.

Blessed Be

Lesson 1 – Dieties

As different as the many traditions of paganism they are pretty much all the same. Different paths leading to the same destination. Basic teachings are all the same just a different method used. There are many different rituals, festivals, and..”names” for gods and goddessess.

The higher power, the Ultimate Diety – The Source, is a force that is far beyond the comprehension of our finite minds. We cannot fully grasp the power and the why of the Ultimate Diety, yet we yearn to communicate to thank this force or to petition our requests. We know that it is there. Our spririt tells us so. The universe and life around us tells us so. So in our desire to communicate with this force, we as humans need for it to be somewhat attainable to our minds. Hence forth the dieties in all thier glory. Most of the ancient dieties that we have come to us from all regions of the world. But it is through the dieties that we connect to the incomprehinsible power of what I refer to as The Great Spirit or Great Mother. So, how do you know what dieties to work with? Study…..it is different for everybody. The nice thing about practicing as a solitary witch is that you can work with any diety you feel comfortable with. We work a lot ourselves with the Norse and Celtic dieties because we felt comfortable with them and could understand them more easily. The thing is, you have to research and see what is right for you. The nice thing is that there is a lot of information FREE on the internet. Take advantage of it. Take your time. Sometimes a diety will come to you. Just take your time, read, read, and enjoy yourself. Remember, this is YOUR faith, YOUR magick, and YOUR relationship with everything around you.

Daily Correspondences, by Breet herself

Practice makes perfect – at least your spiritual perfect ;-)

Remember to exercise your daily candle magick.  Burn the corresponding color with the day – Remember to clean your candle first! Evocation!! A small little affirmation to the deity of the day and the respected attributes to the day!  :-)

Then try wearing the corresponding color to your job.  At least for a week, people eventually begin to take notice of certain things you do. So maybe just do that once a week ~ out of the month.  Write down how you feel on those days ~

Pretty neat ~ isn’t??

Thanks ~ Breet :-)

A Rant

This is something that has been bugging me for a few weeks now.  And who knows, I may be shooting myself in the foot as a store owner saying what I am about to say. For the last few weeks I have been doing research on supplies for the craft as well as reading more on what is out there for people looking to begin thier path of witchcraft. What I have been seeing just really makes me angry. People telling folks, new and veteran alike, that you HAVE to have this tool and this item in order to perform the Craft correctly! What kind of bullsh@% is that?!? And usually, it is coming from folks who are trying to push a particular brand of product or item at a price that is so outlandish you have to laugh. The not so funny part is that people are falling into this crap.

I read this last night, not an exact quote but it went along the lines of “you must have these tools in order to practice witchcraft. They can be a little expensive but until you aquire these you cannot fully use the craft”  Thats like telling someone that is looking to the christian church, “until you can give 10% of your income every week you can’t come here”. That is ludicrous.  People I used a butter knife for a year as an athame and not once did Goddess or any other deity I was working with at the time tell me I couldn’t work with them because I had a butter knife. The commercialism that has overtaken our community has made our “faith” appear nothing more than a means to make money.

I respect authors such as Scott Cunningham, Buckland, Silver Raven Wolf, and D.J. Conway to name a few. NOT one of these people ever said you HAD to have a tool in order to learn the Craft. They explain how to use tools in rituals and spells, but never have they said you must have the tool. Tools are what get the mind to work with your magick. They are not magickal in of themselves. I know of people that have used thier finger in place of a tool that was called for. Guess what? The magick worked. Why? The magick is within YOU.

Now too, I know that our society is much, much different than it was in the old days. Things like herbs, oils and such are not grown at home or made at home anymore due to time constraints and everyday living. But some things to remember..there are always substitutes for an ingredient and ingredients that you feel you must purchase can be purchased for a lot less if you take the time to look.

So to new people looking to get into the Craft, I offer this humble advice. Read as much as you can on the subject. If someone says that you MUST have something other than faith and belief, walk away from them. This is about your spirtuality. This is about your path and your walk in this life. A tree is full of life and energy, close to Goddess herself and doesn’t have manmade adornments to make itself more pleasing to the Source.  Neither do you have to have such things. And when you are ready to purchase items for your altar and spellwork, shop around. Don’t buy the first thing you see because the place said it was the best. Whats the best for “you”?

P.S. Now what was best for me was that my wife read this Before I published. Its her store too.. :) . The last thing I want to see in Breet Report is how I have not listened…again..hahaha

Blessed Be
